The prospect of being a stranger in a new school can be rather daunting. Here you have five useful tips that may help you navigate your four years at Lehman College.
Tip number 1: Did you know that your tuition gives you access to the exercise rooms and pool in the Apex? Just by showing your validated ID, you can enter the Apex at any time and head down to the lower level to run, lift, swim, or play indoor sports as you like. A great reason to bust a move and exercise!
Tip number 2: Did you know there is a tunnel system beneath the surface of the campus? This tunnel system can be utilized to get from place to place when it is raining, snowing, or just unbearably cold. It may take some time to get used to, but it is without a doubt the most useful tool to utilize when the weather is not to your liking.
Tip number 3: Visit the Urban Male Leadership Office on Lehman’s campus in Shuster 179. Faculty members will be able to help students adjust to life at Lehman through academic advisement, mentorship, and dedicated one-on-one sessions designed to inform and point students towards the resources they will need to succeed personally and academically.
Tip number 4: If you are a transfer student, visit the official Lehman College website and search for the “Virtual Transfer Center.” Information on financial aid, assisted registration, and the transfer student checklist are a few of the many services this center has to offer, as well as quick links to FAQ’s and comprehensive videos that detail the entire transfer process from start to finish.
Tip number 5: Did you know in the lower level of Carman Hall there is a state of the art multi media center for anyone who likes film, photography, and media editing? Computer stations with the latest software in the media industry are outfitted for any student to use for their own purposes. $16 million were invested into this center, so it’s worth checking out!
